Jean Peak
March 23, 2017
3252m
Palm Springs, CA
Jean Peak, though officially named, is a mere bump on the south ridge of San Jacinto Peak which itself is the second highest in southern California. For that reason the elevation of Jean Peak makes it more impressive than it actually is. Apart from peak-bagging I don’t see another reason to ascend this summit. The ascent and approach is written in the trip report of San Jacinto Peak and here I’m only showing some summit views from Jean Peak.
View looking west showing the low clouds
This is looking east down into the desert
Cornell Peak which will be my 4th summit on this day
A zoomed-in view of the city of Palm Springs
Marion Mountain further to the south
Another view showing the low clouds. The ocean should be visible on a clear day.
San Jacinto Peak
San Gorgonio Mountain on the horizon
