Wu Tai Shan (五台山)

May, 2001

3061m

Shanxi, China

Didn’t have much memory about this trip because it was such a long time ago, but Wu Tai Shan was my first time breaking 3000m mark. We did it as our first family trip after owning a car. It has 5 summits and we went up the highest, north summit, which is also the highest point in the province. Despite its elevation and prominence, Wu Tai Shan is pretty much a giant hill. We pretty much drove all the way up, but near the end the road became too hard for 2WD so mom and I hiked to the summit, while dad waited for us in car. A rain storm came shortly after and dad somehow managed to drive his car to near the top and picked us up.
