Diamond Head

2056m

Garibaldi Provincial Park / Squamish, BC

With prominence of a mere 26-m according to bivouac.com and I wonder why this bump gets a separate name. It’s also referred as “Little Diamond Head” at times and I guess the reason is that people mistakenly think Atwell Peak as the actual “Diamond Head” thank to its pyramidal shape. I’d like to stick with the official name so Atwell is Atwell, and Diamond Head is Diamond Head and they won’t get mixed up.

Alex and I tagged this summit as part of our ascent of the much more difficult Atwell Peak. For obvious reasons all of the approach and return are written in my Atwell’s trip report and here I only show some selected summit view from Diamond Head. This peak is basically the first bump along Atwell Peak’s south arete.
