Blåhøe

Vågåmo, Norway
There isn’t much worth noting about the P600m objective Blåhøe because it’s essentially a drive-up. There are options to hike this objective properly but us foreigners with limited time in the country mostly likely will opt for driving the 2WD-frienly toll road all the way to the summit. Adam got his rental car a few hours earlier and went straight for this objective en route to Dombås, whereas Erica and I would do the same, but after hiking Snøhetta on the next day. We would need to drive west towards Nordfjordeid for the night so we might as well use this objective to break the long drive. There aren’t much worth noting about the route because I simply let Google Map direct us to the summit and the direction was very accurate. We stopped on various stages for photos because we drove up through quite some diverse landscape. The summit was very windy and we did walk around to fully soak in the views.

The drive down to the little village of Vågåmo was uneventful and I did drive carefully to make sure we wouldn’t get a flat tire. We got some grocery and gas and then continued driving westwards for a few more hours and of course we stopped a few more times for scenery. The forecasted rain did not come until the very end but when it came, it pissed hard. I was completely exhausted at around 11 pm so Erica did the rest of the drive to the hotel at Nordfjordeid, which only costed 1000 NOK (~125 CAD) after some negotiation. The original plan was to camp as many nights as possible but none of us was keen on setting up the small backcountry tent in the pissing rain, so we would find a hotel stay on bad weather days. The weather was still supposed to be bad on the following day until the very evening, so we took the full advantage of the comfort of having a hotel room and did not check out until noon.
